I was heading to San Miguel for a wedding. One of the closest airports is in Leon, which seems like it is the middle of nowhere, and then you take a 1.5 hour drive to San Miguel. After checking in there was a welcome party and that is how we spent the rest of the night! Friday, May 10th, 2019 In the morning we cruised around the main church and stopped by Ki’bok coffee and sat up on the roof. Most restaurants have rooftops so this was the first of many! The coffee was good also! Lavanda will come up on most searches when trying to find a breakfast place and word got out as there was about a 30-40 min wait and skipped it. We ended up going to Zentono cafe for a quiche. After that we checked out the venue, Instituto Allende, and walked through Parque Benito Juarez. By this point the beauty of the city started to sink in! Next, came the huge hike of the day as we headed to the top of the town, at El Mirador, to overlook the city. We headed back to the air bnb to get some water and hung out on the rooftop. We then headed to San Agustin for churros! The store is located within another restaurant so it took us a minute to find. We wandered around through some of the shops before making our way around the Rosewood hotel, which was super fancy! We then headed up to Luna Tapas Bar where they had a beautiful view of the city (this is the view from the main picture). It can be more pricey than other places but the food was good and you were paying for the view also.
I had to take part of wedding festivities and the rehearsal dinner was held at Tres Maria’s. The food was good and was right by one of the churches.
After dinner we went to the parade. It had all the things, giant people of the bride and groom, a mariachi band, and a burro! After that we headed back to Tres Maria’s Saturday, May 11th, 2019 Today I was able to get into Lavanda! We got there like 5-10 minutes before it opened and there was already a wait. The place was really small but the food was good. Next came the main event and I needed to begin all the wedding stuff and that was the rest of the day!

Before our 1.5 hour drive back to Leon we went back to Lavanda and there was about a 15 minutes wait.
San Miguel Stance:
Getting Around: 7/10 - The city is extremely small, easy to walk around and if need be they have a few ubers. In our Airbnb guide book it said to be careful of walking at night but I never felt unsafe. Things to do: 1/10 - Of all the thing I had on my to do this I was able to knock em out before noon. There would have been more things if we wanted to go farther outside of the city or do things like a cooking class. It seems like the main thing to do is check out the cool buildings, eat, and hang out on rooftops which isn't all bad Food: 7/10 - I enjoyed everything I had but it was also very limited. Overall: 3/10 - One of the closest airports to San Miguel is in Leon which is over an hour away. As you drive to and in the city for the first time the poverty is one of the first things you notice but as you spend more time there the beauty of the city grows on you. Whether it's the cobblestone streets, Spanish architecture, or large creatively designed doors you'll find something. San Miguel is very small and easily walkable. There isn't a whole lot to do as I was able to knock off a lot of things on my list by noon. I thought the food was good and most restaurants have a rooftop which provides for a cool view of the city! I enjoyed my time there and would recommend it if you are in the area but probably won't go back myself. You can see where that ranks against the other places I've gone here. San Miguel Recommendations: If you want to see the list of things to do that I used you can here. You can watch my video of my trip here. My Non-Obvious San Miguel Recommendations: I thought although it was a little pricey the view, and food, from Luna's Tapas Bar was worth it.
