Where to Eat and Drink in Berlin, Germany | Travel Tips

Berlin offers a wide variety on food and obviously beer. I created this list before my trip there and updated it some with this post. To see how I create my lists you can see that here or to see what I did while I was there that is here.
Where To Eat:
1. Shiso Burger  - If you are looking for a good burger I went here and can recommend it. It's a little funky and is a Korea-American fusion.
2. Strandbad Mitte - In the mood for brunch this is a place you can check out!
3. Scheers Schnitzel - This place is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the best affordable schnitzel places in Berlin.
4. Curry 61 - If you are in the mood for currywurst this will be your spot!
5. Tiergarten Quelle - For when you are in the mood for German food, you are in Berlin after all!
6. Yarok - With multiple location this may be your place to go if you want to get some Syrian food.
7. Stadtklause - For a real German experience!
8. Burgermeister - 'The iconic burger joint located in an old toilet house beneath the ancient tracks of the subway'. If that description doesn't sound appealing I don't know what will?! But it's for real rated really well!
9. Schlogl's - German food with a cute patio!
10. A Mano - Opened in 2011 and quickly established itself as one of the best Italian restaurants in Berlin.
11. Konak Izmir Grill - The Kofte sandwich comes highly recommend among all of great kebabs that are offered!
12. Adana Grillhaus - If you are in the mood for Turkish food this if the place the local Turkish residents go.
13. Markthalle Neun - The center of the food scene is in this market hall. It has Berlin’s most famous butcher (Kumpel & Keule), U.S.-style barbecue (Big Stuff), Italian baker (Sironi), fish smoker (Glut & Späne) and craft beer brewer (Heidenpeters). Apart from that, Markthalle Neun is the home of the weekly Street Food Thursday and the monthly Breakfast Market (every third Sunday), which are by far the best street food markets in Berlin.
14. Prater Garden - Berlin's oldest Biergarten get busy during May through September when it is open season.

4 places I had on my list are now permanently closed.
Where To Drink:
  1. Brlo Brewhouse - A craft beer bar that is rich in character and passion that brew a Lager, Pale Ale and Baltic Porter.
  2. Birra -  Berlin's first Italian craft beer hotspot!
  3. Salt n Bone - An Irish gastropub and grill -  great craft beer and cocktails combined with classy – yet fun – pub food.
  4. Hops and Barley - A small micro-brewery in the Friedrichshain area that provides creative ideas to Berlin beer culture.
  5. Brewdog Berlin Mitte - A chain bar specializing in Scottish craft beers.
  6. Herman Belgian Ales - A small craft beer bar  with a solid selection
  7. Heidenpeters - Located in Markthalle Neun you can find homemade or a wide range of high quality beers.
  8. Lager Lager - A cozy bar with sidewalk seating that offers bottled microbrews and beers on tap.
  9. Lugosi bar  - A laid back minimalist bar that is a favorite for locals.
  10. Kaschk - They offer coffee during the day  and nordic and local craft beer at night! I went here and they offer a nice selection!
  11. Klunkerkranich - If you are looking for a rooftop bar with a garden take the elevator to the top of the parking garage.

I went to Gaststatte W. Prassnik and it has good reviews online, but it was not my favorite and wouldn't say I recommend it.
Coffee:
1. Bonanza Coffee Heroes - The first thrid-wave coffee roaster and provides their beans to restaurants all over Berlin. They just opened a new warehouse roastery in Kreuzberg.
2. Barn - For specialty coffee!
Summary:
Things in Berlin may have changed in the 3 years since I had been there. The fact that almost 33% of the restaurants on my original list are no longer open is a pretty good sign! When I was there my tour guide mentioned how the city was constantly changing and figuring out what it was. The place I went I can recommend  and have added some new places to update the list.
