The drive to Grand Junction takes about 8-9 hours so it's quite the trek but when we got there we wandered downtown to Rockslide for dinner and drinks. Afterwards we just cruised around downtown before heading back.

We took a stroll to Kiln which had really good coffee and enjoyed the weather outside.
We then hiked along Palisade Rim trail.
On the way back we stopped by Clark's and picked up peaches and salsa before heading to Taco Party for lunch. I thought the tacos were alright but a tad over priced.
Now, the first main event, wine tasting! I really like wine tasting in Grand Junction because most of the tastings are free and you can usually find an awesome mountain view near by.
We started at Grande River Valley which I recommend and have a bottle in my wine fridge as we speak! We then cruised over to St. Kathryn which is basically sweet wines and Talon which is connected and had samples of wine and fudge.
We then stopped by Plum Creek and a personal favorite of mine, Red Fox. Red Fox tries different things like having wine in bourbon or tequila barrels or even has wine cocktails. It's all around a place to kick back and hang out.
We then tried to go to Colterris because they have an awesome overlook of Mount Garfield but we were too late and got kicked out. So we cruised over to Maison La Belle Vie which was my first time and thought it was awesome! We also went to Carlson's which has a cool patio to hang and even have a dessert wine sample dipped in chocolate.
For dinner we ordered pick up from Pablo's Pizza which was good! We ended the night by meeting up with some of my friends at Highlands which is kind of out of the way but had a cool vibe and enjoyed it!

We tried a new coffee place, Roasted, before the second main event! Roasted was alright but not as good as Kiln. Once we were caffeinated we drove to Glenwood Springs to check out Hanging Lake which I for sure recommend.
Afterwards we stopped in Glenwood Springs and ate at Co Ranch House before heading back to Junction and cruising around the downtown area which included popping in and out of candle and bookstores.
We then got ready and spent the afternoon going back to Colterris, getting a bottle of wine at Maison La Bella Vie, and stopping for a drink at Peach Street Distillery.
Grand Junction doesn't have a wide variety of fancier establishments but Bin 707 is one of them. Their claim to fame is Jared Leto stopped by once and gave positive reviews about it.

Before we headed home we stopped at Kiln one more time before hiking the Mica Mine trail.
Grand Junction Grade
Getting Around: 5/10
If you stay downtown you will be able to easily walk to restaurants, art galleries, shopping, or bars extremely easily. Anything else you'd be doing you'll need and want a car. The parking and getting around is easy since everything is like 10 - 20 minutes away.
Things to do: 7/10
If you are more the outdoorsy type you'll love your time in Grand Junction. There is a lot of hiking, mountain biking, river activities and more that you have easy access to. After all that outdoor activity you can cruise over to one of the many wineries around that offer free tastings. During the summer there is a country music festival nearby and in the fall a farmers market downtown.
There are a few art galleries but this isn't really the place for museums or art. It is a great location for day trips as you can easily get to Glenwood Springs, Ouray, Aspen or Moab in about 2 hours.
There will be solid pizza, cocktails, breweries, bar food or even fancier dining options but there wont be a bunch.
This is a hard city for me to rank because I lived in Grand Junction for almost 3 years. But I do stick by this ranking. If you are into free wine tasting, breweries, doing outdoorsy stuff, or taking day trips into the mountains this is your spot. You will need a car to get around and there aren't a ton of food options that are worth while but several good options.
If you want to see where Grand Junction ranks against other places I've gone that is here.
